A Radical Conservative Debate I Would Definitely Attend Thursday, August 31, 2006

In fact, I would pay money to see this. As crazy as some of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s ideas are, he’s damn articulate, as anybody who has seen the CBS interview with Mike Wallace knows full well (find videos 1-3 and 5 at youtube.com, search CBS Ahmadinejad – not sure where vol 4 is). All in all, I would pay money to see this the fundamentalist throwdown of the century….now, if only we could get Pat Robertson in there…..

Wow, I thought freedoms of speech and expression in this country were for everyone….turns out that’s not so, according to the BBC. Check out this new application of racial profiling. Looks like the ‘authoritarian’ label is increasingly applicable to government and bureaucratic endeavors these days…
Administration Plays ‘Fascism Card’ in Effort to Boost Sagging War Support Wednesday, August 30, 2006

I know it may be difficult to tell from these posts, but one may venture to guess that I’m not too fond of this Administration, invading sovereign nations, or branding people as treasonous or unpatriotic should they oppose US military actions overseas, or those of our propped-up allies. However, I have recently been struck by the depths to which this Administration has gone to equate dissent from the war in Iraq and the War on Terror with a lack of patriotism, anti-Americanism, and recently, both appeasement of fascism and support for Al Qaeda.
You can find Rumsfeld’s comments below and the full article from that left wing publication, The Wall Street Journal, right here:
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld appeared to preview yesterday the rhetoric of the new administration approach, underscoring what he portrayed as the stakes in the war against terrorism in a strongly worded speech of his own, saying proponents of withdrawal are effectively promoting appeasement of “a new type of fascism” similar to that of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.
And you can find Cheney’s comments alleging a vote for Ned Lamont in Connecticut is effectively a vote for Al Qaeda here, courtesy of my friend Ray:
“Yesterday, Cheney bashed those who voted for Democrat Ned Lamont in the Connecticut Senate primary, claiming that these votes would encourage ‘al Qaeda types’ to think that ‘they can break the will of the American people.’ “
Are they serious? Nazi references if you don’t support the war??? Is this the face of ‘compassionate conservatism’ that was so highly touted in 2000 & 2004 – It’s not like Rumsfeld and Cheney are low profiles just spouting off rhetoric during an election year congressional campaign in Podunk, Arkansas – these are two of the most powerful men in the world advocating this ideology!
And seriously, Mr. Rumsfeld, were you referring to Iraq or your own regime with that ‘fascist’ comment – any cursory look at the definition of fascism would reveal…..
‘Fascism is a radical totalitarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-anarchism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism.’
Corporatism….check
Authoritarianism….check
Extreme Nationalism….triple check
Militarism…..(do two concurrent wars in separate countries and 725 US military bases within other sovereign nations count?)…Check
Anti-Communism….check
Anti-liberalism….check
Oh wait, perhaps you were talking about our own neo-conservative fascist regime, Mr. Secretary….

Welcome Xanga friends and random trespassers! It’s been 2 years of having this account, and here’s my first post! I have three reasons for switching:
a) Everybody’s on blogger these days, and I feel left out
b) It just looks cooler than Xanga
c) Now that Apple and Google are combining to take over the world, I want to make sure I’m on both of their ‘good sides’
Haha, don’t know if anybody will read this, and I don’t really care for that matter… Ok, I lied. It would be great to have folks read, reply, disagree, add further commentary, and dream with me for a better tomorrow. So, with that, let’s begin…..
