Justice or Just Us?
3.4.06
Foreign policies of death under the mask of ‘pro-life’
Found coveting our neighbor’s food and thereby starving his wife
Preferring to drop bombs over benedictions of life
Creates a self-fulfilling prophecy whereby we respond to the strife
We furnish and the furnace continues
Thinking these people threaten democracy
Because we draw ‘innocent’ cartoons
Ignorant of the history, our decisions a mystery–ous bust
So we fight for justice but all I see is just us
If you want to win this battle
Its time to stand up and trust us
No civil liberties, only injustice for all
Throw your fist up put your brick down
Come and watch the walls fall
Knowing that nothing is quiet
Except for the fools
I stand here calling you to action
It’s time to rewrite the rules
Trying to cast out my nation’s demons
So much you’d think I was an exorcist
Yet when I preach a truer Jesus
I get branded as a communist
But tomorrow will never come
As long as children are dying yesterday
In this global economic power struggle
Financed by negligent local pay
So, how does it feel to deny what is real
Dwelling in canyons, striving in strawberry fields
Under the heel, unpaid for the crop that they yield
Now enslaved to the market and the power it wields
Families decaying away while our profits grow faster
While we look away from their impending disaster
And get caught looking through him and past her
Could it be we’re content with our role as Master?
